PKS biomass (palm kernel shells)

Palm kernel shells

€125 / ton

Palm kernel shells: a dense, low-ash biomass fuel with a high calorific value, supplied in bulk for power plants and industrial boilers.

Palm kernel shells (PKS) are the hard shells left after the kernel is extracted from the fruit of the oil palm. They are one of the most energy-dense solid biomass fuels available in bulk, and a proven substitute for coal in co-firing power plants, cement kilns and industrial steam boilers. Typical specifications (indicative, certificate of analysis available per shipment): - Net calorific value: 16.5 – 18.5 MJ/kg (approx. 4,000 – 4,400 kcal/kg) - Moisture: 10 – 20% - Ash: 2 – 4% - Sulphur: below 0.1% - Bulk density: approx. 600 – 700 kg/m³ PKS stores well, does not require pelletising, and its low sulphur and chlorine content keeps emissions and boiler corrosion low. We supply PKS in bulk by truck load and by vessel for larger volumes, with origin documentation and sustainability declarations on request.
